Problem Note 46160: Check In fails with an "Error checking in metadata.." error in SAS® Data Integration Studio

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

You might receive an error similar to the following when performing a Check In of objects in SAS Data Integration Studio:

Error checking in metadata: The property SOURCEFEATUREMAPS, specified for metadata type FeatureMap, was not found in the model.

This error is the result of an issue in the metadata management code. The error does not have any impact on the integrity of any metadata objects within the Project repository, like jobs and tables. Once this problem surfaces, the only solution is to clear the Project repository.

If you want to save the content that is currently in the Project repository, perform the following steps:

  1. Back up all metadata. Ensure that a valid metadata backup (%OMABAKUP) has been run and saved to a secure location.
  2. Log on to the Project repository where the error occurred.
  3. Make note of all objects in the Project repository that have been checked out. This information is needed in a later step.
  4. Go to the Checkouts tab and highlight all the content that you want to save. Use the CTRL or SHIFT keys to perform group or multi-select of items, respectively.
  5. Select File►Export►SAS Package.... Step through all panels in the Export SAS Package wizard until you have completed the export process.
  6. Select Check Outs►Clear Projects.
  7. In the window that is displayed, select the Project repository that you want to clear and click OK.
  8. Go to the Folders tab and check out all the objects that you made note of in Step 3.
  9. Go to the Checkouts tab then select File►Import►SAS Package.... Select the package file that you created in Step 5. Step through all panels in the Import SAS Package wizard until you have completed the import process.
  10. You should now be able to perform the Check In process that resulted in the original error.

If you do not need to save any of the content that is currently in the Project repository, then perform the following steps:

  1. Back up all metadata. Ensure that a valid metadata backup (%OMABAKUP) has been run and saved to a secure location.
  2. Log on to the Project repository where the error occurred.
  3. Select Check Outs►Clear Projects.
  4. In the window that is displayed, select the Project repository that you want to clear and click OK.

Note: Once the problem has been introduced into the Project repository, the only resolution is to perform one of the two options listed above.

Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.

The hot fix only prevents this issue from occurring again.
